C-section?

Trying to find out if when you get a c-section, you have to have a catheter put in?

C-section?
Yes you do. They'll put it in after you are already numbed up for the c-section. It's not the most pleasant thing, but it'll be the last thing that you're thinking about.
Reply:Yep. They numb you from the waist down and it doesn't wear off right away so you even have it while you're in your recovery room for awhile.
Reply:Yep! Generally they will put it in AFTER the spinal block has taken effect, and leave it in until it wears off in recovery.

ETA ~ Generally when its a scheduled C then they put it in AFTER the spinal, not before..but really depends on the hospital and their staff as to when they will insert it, it really isnt that bad if they do it before the spinal.
Reply:Yeah you do.

But if you are doing good after the surgery they might take it out soon. I got mine out after about two hours after my surgery. I do know that I had my catheter in way before I was supposed to have c-section. So either way you will probably have one.
Reply:im 17 and i had a c-section 2 months ago..1st thing is u have to tk to ur doctor..its up to them...2nd it depends on how far along you are and the health of ur baby..3rd yes you do have to have a catheter in..b/c you have to have either an epidural or spinal block (ive had both but thats a diff. story) the reason for this is you can not feel if you have to pee so the do that to be clean about it..its not that bad actually...
