When were you released? lengh of stay with c-section vs vaginal. Please check it out...very curious?

I had a c-cection 8 years ago. It was an emergency and my son stayed in the hospitial for a week in NICU. I also did not get discharged untill he did.

I think they had me stay so i'd be close cause I did not have any problems myself.

I went VBAC (vaginal birth after cesearen) with my second five years ago and If I remeber right I was olny In there for 2 days.

So I might have to get a c-section this time around but I want to know how long would I be In the hospital under normal cirrcumstances with a planned c-section?

I know I could just ask my OB, but I dont see him untill next Friday so Im trying to get a general idea.

Also if you had a vaginal birth how long were you in there for?

When were you released? lengh of stay with c-section vs vaginal. Please check it out...very curious?
I've had 2 ceasarians - both arranged 1 week before delivery. The 1st one due to Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. They 2nd one because I was carrying a very large baby in my very large bump! I was in hospital for 6 days with the 1st, which is normal. The 2nd one is a whole new storey! Good luck.
Reply:I had the same as you. My first was an emergency C and I was in for about 4 days. My second was VBAC and I was actually in for a week. BUT, I was up and moving around on my own within hours of the delivery. They kept me in so long due to my BP. My last one, was a C-section and it actually was scheduled, but they had to deliver me at a routine appointmnet due to BP and I was in for 2 days.

Good luck and Congrats
Reply:They generally keep you 5-7 days when you have a c-section, regardless of if it's planned or not. as for a vaginal birth, I gave birth on a Wednesday evening, and went home on that Friday morning. But it depends, you can stay as long as you want (within reason) just tell your doctor what you're comfortable with.
Reply:I have 4 boys, two were vaginal i was in for one night only just for the rest around 24 hours, the other 2 were c-section, they say 5-7 days depending on how you are getting on, i was determined to get out, so as lond as i got up after the anesthetic had worn off, eaten, opened my bowels and had a wee, i was allowed to go, so i was out on the 3rd day with each, i couldn't afford to stay in any longer i had other children at home!
Reply:only natural births here. First was in a hospital, stayed 3 days(military hospital, their policey), second was in a birth center, 14 hrs after birth we went home. 3 I said screw it and just stayed home . 4%26amp;5 twins, were also unassisted home birth with transfer to hospital 12 hrs later for baby#2(complications relating to a genetic disorder). 5%26amp;6 twins in the hospital preemie, I went home 12 hrs after birth.
Reply:I was induced... I was suppose to have a vaginal delivery, but because my son was head down face up and his heart rate was fluctuating, I had a c-section. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days... Maybe because I could barely walk because I was in soo much pain. (I didn't like to take my pain meds because I breastfeed.) They made me walk the maternity ward 2 nights... and I was doing much better.

This was in March of 2008.
Reply:I had 4 vaginal births. My first birth i stayed for 3 days my second i was out within 10 hours because of no complications, my third was three days because my daughter was in the special care nursery, and my fourth i was home the day after. It all depends on how mother and baby are doing, in some hospitals here in aus, they will let u leave 4 hours after giving birth (yes with baby).
Reply:I had a vaginal birth 3 years ago and my son and i were kept in for 9days... I think that was due to my complications with 3rd degree tearing and the fact that my son had bad haematoma's on both sides of his head from bein squashed through a pelvis that was obvioulsy too little.
Reply:Things have changed a lot. When my son was born by emergency c-section 3 1/2 years ago I was out of the hospital after 3 days. My son, however was born almost 3 months early so he had to go to a Children's Hospital and was in there for 10 weeks.
Reply:well most times its 5 days but im sure if every thing is alright you might beable to go early i will be having my third c section in november and im hoping to stay the 5 days go relaxing and taking it easy ill let husband look after the kids for a while thats my holiday
Reply:well i think it depends were u are at because here in washington they usually let u go after 24 hrs my sister in alw had her baby at 7:15 p.m and was home by 3 p.m the next day so actually less then 24 hrs i guess it just depends how well u and the baby are doing.
Reply:Vaginal birth is 24-48 hrs without complications and everyone i know that had a c-section spent 3-5 days except my cousin who had complications and ended up in the ICU for 2 wks after her c-section.
Reply:In Saskatchewan the rule is 48 hours for vaginal 72 hours for C- section barring any complications of course
Reply:Hi its normally around 3-4 days for a c-section if everything goes OK, with my 2 ND child I was in for 9 days due to complications. Good Luck
Reply:I only had a vaginal birth with all 3 of mine and I was out within 48 hours.

I had a friend that had a planned c-section and she stayed in the hospital for a week.
Reply:I had an emergency c-section and my baby and I were both released after 2 days. my cousin had a vag. birth and was released after 24 hours
Reply:With my c section i was in the hospital for 2 days, i shouldve been there for at least 3 though.
Reply:I was out of the hospital within about 36 hours. I only have one child and that was about 6 years ago.
Reply:i live in de and w/all 3 of my kids you stay 48 hrs after giving birth
Reply:If you have a vaginal birth and there are no complications for either you or your baby, you are likely to be able to go home within 24 to 48 hours after giving birth. Depending on your individual circumstance, you may be able to go home even sooner. If you had anesthesia during delivery, it may be longer as it will take time for the anesthetic to work its way out of your system.

For a cesarean section delivery, you will stay in the hospital at least three days. A cesarean section is major abdominal surgery, and the recovery process is much more lengthy and much more difficult.
