Everytime I try to connect to another machine through \\machienname\C$ on my network, I only get guest login..

So if in windows explorer if i type \\machine\C$ all i get is a login box with the username greyed out with Machine\Guest then the password you can type in with it being blank. What is causing on both of my machines the viceversa problem. what am i doing wrong???

The C$ is only a machine administrative share, not for file sharing, you should never make this available publicly, you need to set up lower level folders to share files from. Sharing the C:drive is the fastest way to trash a machine on the network.
Reply:make sure the userid on your pc has a password so when it boots up it asks you for a password.

Then create a shared folder on one of the PC's so you do not try to access the root administrative share. Grant access to the shared forder to all authenticated users.

Good Luck
Reply:try this:

open a cmd prompt: (START, RUN, type CMD (OK))

issue:

net use * \\machine\C$ /user:Administrator *

(hit enter)

(it will prompt you for the Administrator password)

It will return a drive letter saying something like "drive g:" is now connected.

When you look to access the other PC - just open the G: drive.
